Policy Statement

It is our intention to make our school accessible to children and families from all sections of the local community regardless of ethnicity, gender, religion or competence in spoken English.

Procedures

01

We ensure that the existence of our setting is widely advertised in places accessible to all sections of the community.

02

We ensure that information is accessible in simple plain English, in spoken or written form. We describe our pre-school and grade level and its practices in terms that make it clear that it welcomes both fathers and mothers, other relations and other careers including childminders.

03

We describe our pre-school and grade level and its practices in terms of how it treats each child and their family, having regard to their needs arising from their gender, special educational needs, social background, religion, ethnicity or from English being newly acquired additional language.

04

We monitor the gender and ethnic background of children joining the group to ensure that no accidental or unintentional discrimination is taking place.

05

We make our Valuing Diversity and Promoting Equality Policy widely known.

06

We are flexible about attendance patterns to accommodate the needs of individual children and families, providing these do not disrupt the pattern of continuity in the setting that provides stability for all the children.

07

We try to accommodate requests from existing children provided that this does not disrupt the pattern of continuity in the setting or prevent new children from joining the pre-school.

08

Once requests from existing children have been accommodated, we admit new children in date of birth order and first come served, oldest children taking priority.

Note: All applicants must follow the school admission criteria and provide all documents and information or will be rejected.
